History & Beliefs
Statement of Faith
Highway Christian Academy intends to integrate these truths as an educational ministry of Highway Assembly of God. They are derived from the Statement of Fundamental Truths of the General Council of the Assemblies of God.
We believe the Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God. – 2 Timothy 3:16, John 17:17
We believe there is one God who exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. – Deuteronomy 6:14, Matthew 28:19
We believe in the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit to transform our lives, that we are justified by the shed blood of Christ, and that we are saved by God’s grace. – Titus 3:5-7
We believe in the resurrection of the saved. – John 5:28-29
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. – 1 Corinthians 12:13
We believe that we must be people who demonstrate God’s love and compassion for all the world. – Galatians 2:10
Our Statement of Faith is not exhaustive of all of our beliefs. The Bible, as the inspired and infallible Word of God, speaks with absolute authority regarding the proper conduct of mankind and is the unchanging foundation for all belief and behavior.

Founded 2020
Thanks to a decades long partnership our established educational facility became available in 2020 to open a preschool. In the height of the pandemic, under the direction of Mr. Gary Wagner and Pastor Michael McDonald of Highway Assembly of God, The Good Shepherd Preschool opened. Our first year we had only four students, but by the end of our third year we served over forty preschoolers. In 2022 the school board voted to grow our school and expand beyond preschool. Under the direction of our current Principal, Mrs. Amy Fabiano, we will be welcoming preschoolers and kindergarteners to our facility in August 2023.
History
Early 1950s
Highway Assembly of God began in the early fifties as a home missions church of the Potomac District. Rev. John Bryant and Rev. Eugene Wolfe were among several commuting ministers who held meetings in a small, one-room “portable tabernacle” on Claiborne Ave. in Chatham Heights.
1950
In 1955, Rev. Bob and Ruth Revell assumed the pastorate of the small church. After meeting in the portable tabernacle for several years, the church sold the Chatham property for and purchased the old Falmouth Baptist Church building on the Rt. 1 highway just across the Falmouth Bridge.
1970
In the early 1970s, the church began the long process of purchasing the current property adjacent to former Jefferson Davis Highway, and designing a new facility. The congregation came together with their collective skills and the church officially opened in our fellowship hall in July 1979.
1980
In partnership with Fredericksurg Chrsitian Schools, the educational facility was built and utilized from the 1980s through June 2020.
2020
After Fredericksburg Christian School moved from our educational facility, the Pastors and church members worked to open The Good Shepherd Preschool under the direction of Gary Wagner. Gary Wagner served as the administrator through June 2022.
2022
In June 2022, Amy Fabiano was hired as the incoming director of The Good Shepherd Preschool. In the fall of 2022 the school board voted to expand the preschool to kindergarten and potentially first grade. At the end of the 2022 – 2023 school year we graduated 16 students out of preschool and served 43 students over the course of the school year.
2023
Here we grow again! We are set to begin school in August 2023 with our inaugural elementary school classes and three preschool classes as a co-educational building with Highway Christian Academy and The Good Shepherd Preschool.
